DINNER WITH NICOLAS WADIMOFF
WHO IS STILL ALIVE
An evening of food and conversation with filmmaker Nicolas Wadimoff
Saturday 14 November | 8:30 pm
Akub, Notting Hill
We are honoured to welcome Swiss filmmaker Nicolas Wadimoff to Akub for a very special evening of conversation around his extraordinary documentary, Who Is Still Alive.
Selected as Switzerland's official submission for the Academy Awards, the film brings together nine Palestinians from Gaza, each carrying memories of a home, a neighbourhood, a family and a life profoundly altered by war.
Through their voices and recollections, the film invites us to look beyond the images of destruction and remember the lives, relationships and dreams that make up the human story of Gaza.
As the film comes to London for the Palestine Film Festival, we are opening our doors for an intimate evening with Nicolas Wadimoff, offering an opportunity to discuss the making of the documentary, the stories of those who entrusted him with their memories, and the role of cinema in preserving Palestinian voices.
At Akub, food has always been a way of telling stories, preserving memories and bringing people together. Chef Fadi Kattan will be joining us for the evening, sharing in the conversation and welcoming guests around the table, where Palestinian food and storytelling naturally come together.
The evening will include a specially prepared dinner at Akub, a welcome drink and an opportunity to engage directly with Nicolas Wadimoff.
Guests are also invited to discover our selection of Palestinian wines and beers, Palestinian non-alcoholic beers and crafted non-alcoholic drinks, available to order throughout the evening.
